Passage: Ephesians 6:5-9
Scripture is incredibly timely and relevant. Sometimes we wonder how a book like Ephesians, written almost 2000 years ago, could have anything practical to say to us today in our high-tech western culture. Even this morning’s passage, which addresses slaves and masters, can lead us to that conclusion. But when we learn to read the bible, first through the lens of the original readers, and then seek to apply the principles in the passage to contemporary life, we will see the practicality and continuing relevance of God’s Word. This morning, we will briefly address the bible’s position on slavery, but our focus will be on gospel-centered relationships in the workplace and how the concept of mutual submission applies to both employees and employers.
