Passage: Isaiah 42:1-9
Continuing in our Advent sermon series entitled Christmas in the Old Testament, this morning, we consider the first of the so-called Servant Songs in the book of Isaiah. Our text does not specifically identify this Servant, but we get greater clarity as we consider each of the subsequent references by the prophet. Further, Matthew’s gospel clearly links the person and ministry of Jesus with God’s Servant who will establish a future kingdom of justice and truth.
