Passage: Ephesians 4:17-19
If Chapter 4 began a new focus in Paul’s letter to the Ephesian Christians, then v. 17 is the point where the rubber really starts to meet the road when it comes to living out the Christian life. After reminding his readers to walk in a manner worthy of their calling (4:1), Paul now shows by negative example what that walk cannot and should not look like. Scripture teaches that those who are in Christ are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17) and thus it follows that the way we live as Christians should provide a stark contrast with the way we lived as pagans, when we were in outright rebellion against God. In these three verses, Paul gives a disturbing but realistic description of the spiritual disease I call Terminal Paganitis.
