Passage: Ephesians 6:10-13
We are now moving into the homestretch in our study through the book of Ephesians. Paul has caused us to marvel at the grace of God shown to us in Christ. He has instructed us, in light of that grace, as to how we should conduct ourselves in the church and in our various relationships outside the church. But Paul is a realist and he knows that our efforts at living Spirit-filled lives of mutual submission will be vigorously opposed by the enemy of our souls. Therefore, he begins to wrap up his letter with extensive instructions on spiritual warfare. In this section, we will be reminded of our limited ability to withstand Satan’s attacks and the necessity of relying upon God’s strength, which is ours in Christ, for the battle. After all, as Luther wrote; “The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him. His rage we can endure, for lo his doom is sure. One little word shall fell him.”
