Passage: Ephesians 5:8-14
If there is one thing that should be clear to us from our study through the book of Ephesians thus far it is that the Christian life is primarily a fight to believe and live out our true identity in Christ. This morning, as we consider Paul’s continuing instructions to Christians on how to live out their faith in the midst of a world opposed to everything they believe, we see Paul relying heavily on metaphors of light and darkness. We know that Jesus called us to be salt and light in the world. We know that the apostle John tells us that God is light. Now, through Paul, the Holy Spirit shows us that we have been transformed into light in order to be instruments of change in the lives of others and in the cultures in which we live.
