Passage: Mark 3:20-30
When we step away from our familiarity with this passage, we should be absolutely shocked! The incarnate Son of God ― the one who came to give his life in place of sinners so that they may know and be with the God who made them for all eternity ― that loving Savior is, in the space of a few verses, accused by his family as being out of his mind, and accused by the religious leaders of his people as being possessed by and working for Satan. Unimaginable! This should serve as a harsh warning that those who have been around Jesus, heard him speak, and watched him perform amazing miracles, can still be horribly wrong about him. All the more critical for us to make sure we recognize Jesus for who he truly is and respond to him accordingly.
