Passage: Ephesians 6:16
This morning, we return to our study of the spiritual armor of God with a look at the shield of faith. By God’s providence, we come to this text on Reformation Sunday, a marvelous reminder of those Christians five centuries ago who recovered the truths of the gospel and the doctrine of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. In times of doubt, confusion, and oppression, there is perhaps no more precious piece of armor than that of faith. But we must remember that it is not the amount or the strength of our faith that is key, but the object of our faith. It is our absolute trust in the God who saved us that allows us to stand against the attacks of the enemy and to quench the fiery darts he sends our way.
