Passage: Ephesians 6:17a
Christians typically speak of salvation almost exclusively in the past tense: I was saved when…; Have you been saved?…etc. The truth is that Scripture speaks of salvation in three different tenses. We have been saved from the penalty of sin. We are being saved from the power of sin. We will be saved from the presence of sin when we go to be home with the Lord. So which of these is Paul thinking of when he instructs believers to protect themselves with the helmet of salvation? For those who have been coming to our church for some time, I doubt that my answer will surprise you. But I do believe there is an emphasis here on one aspect of our salvation, and we will be looking into that this morning as we continue to put on the armor of God.
