Passage: Luke 15:1-2, 11-24
When our culture characterizes God they often depict Him as a malevolent grey-haired man who is waiting to punish us for the smallest infraction. Sadly, many Christians view God in the same way. However, when we take the time to look at the Scriptures we see a very different picture of God. The apostle John says, “God is love…” in 1 John 4:16 and while John’s declaration may not necessarily move us to a place of reverence or wonder, Jesus fleshes out for us what it means when we read “God is love.” God is love, but how does this fact translate into our everyday lives? As we grow to be more and more like Jesus, how does the fact affect our relationships with one another? Do we love one another the way God loves?
